Last week, we had our first fully off-site workshop with renowned local photographer Wing Huie, who met students at his gallery and studio and then embarked on an afternoon of photographing unknown subjects on Franklin Avenue. As a technique for photographing strangers, the students asked their subjects a range of questions and then recorded their responses on chalkboards, which were then included in their photographs.
This is a technique Huie used in his Lake Street and Frogtown projects:
